8/31: September is Hunger Action Month
AAFB is proud to partner with two Valley businesses, Hula’s Modern Tiki and C & R Tire, in support of
Hunger Action Month in September. A nationwide initiative of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, and held annually each September, Hunger Action Month seeks to raise awareness of domestic hunger issues while encouraging individuals and organizations to take action in the fight against hunger.
As part of their monthly Mahalo Mondays program, Hula’s Modern Tiki is donating 10% of their gross proceeds to AAFB during all four Mondays in the month of September. Hula’s Modern Tiki, located at 4700 N. Central Avenue, just south of Camelback Road, serves up great modern island cuisine and tropical cocktails in a casual, hip environment. For more information, visit

Also throughout September, when someone makes a donation to AAFB, C&R Tire will double that donation amount in service work credit on most cars and trucks, up to $100. For example, for a $25 donation to AAFB, an individual would receive a $50 service work credit at any of C&R Tire’s five Valley locations. To receive the service credit of up to $100, just bring in an AAFB donation receipt of up to $50 before September 30. For more information and to find the nearest C & R Tire location, visit

“These are just a sampling of the many ways people can get involved in Hunger Action Month this September,” said Ginny Hildebrand, president and CEO of AAFB. “We are grateful for all our community partners, supporters and food banks that participate in Hunger Action Month and help share the message that hunger in our communities is unacceptable.”
