New Data Shows 1 in 5 Arizonans Struggled to Buy Enough Food, January - June 2012
Newly released Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index data on food hardship
shows one in five Arizonans (19.9%) continued to struggle to afford enough food to feed their household during the first six months of 2012, the 13th highest food hardship rate in the U.S. This continues the trend of nearly 20% poverty, food insecurity and food hardship rates in Arizona since the recession began in 2008. Nationwide, food hardship affected 18.2% of households in the first six months of 2012.
